JCC at a glance

Founded in 1950 as a predominantly transfer, liberal arts-oriented institution, Jamestown Community College was the first locally sponsored SUNY public community college and is now one of 30 community colleges within the 64-member SUNY system.

JCC has grown from its original location within the Jamestown High School building and an enrollment of 169 students into a multi-campus institution. JCC has two campuses and two extension sites and offers courses in high schools throughout the region.

  • The Jamestown Campus (1950) is located 80 miles south of Buffalo on a 107-acre site in Jamestown, NY.
  • The Cattaraugus County Campus (1976) is located 50 miles east of Jamestown in Olean, NY.
  • The North County Center is located 30 miles north of Jamestown in Dunkirk, NY.
  • The Warren Center (1987) is located in North Warren, PA.

Three-year graduation, transfer, & persistence rates: first-time, full-time students

A study of the 759 students who enrolled as first time, full time students at JCC in fall 2019  indicated, 36% had graduated by the start of the fall 2022 semester. An additional 10% transferred to other colleges prior to graduation, and 4% were still enrolled in fall 2022. Graduate job placement

A total of 63% of 2021-2022 JCC graduates with Associate in Applied Science degrees responding to a survey indicated they were employed full-time. Of those responding, 67% said their current occupation is highly related to their JCC degree area and 85% said JCC prepared them for their positions in the workforce (46% indicated “very well,” 39% noted “adequately”). In the same survey, 95% of full-time transfer students responded that JCC prepared them for continuing their education. Of the respondents, 44% indicated JCC had prepared them “very well” and 51% said “adequately.” Also, 67% of the full-time transfer students are studying in a program that is highly related to their JCC program.
